There are credits for "reissue audio and artwork," "tape coordinator," and "tape transfer engineer." The mastering engineer was Geoff Pesche.ĭM posted a bunch of photos on Twitter of the original master boxes and some like this, from the cutting session for the Speak & Spell box at Abbey Road Studios:Ĭlick to expand. Thanks RTW and c-eiling for replies. And at least with the MP3s, they provided artwork.ĪS FOR THE SOURCING FOR THE ACTUAL 12" SINGLES, the hype stickers on the front of the boxes make it clear that these are "faithfully reproduced from original artwork and audio masters," not digitally remastered. Interestingly the digital sourcing is different for the MP3s they originally provided I suspect in some cases (say, the Rio Mix of "Shout,") the source was the remastered and more compressed version from the Remixes box set instead of the CD single. So anyone interested in fresh or at least differently EQ'd digital files isn't going to get them. Warners swapped out the MP3s for WAV files however, the untagged WAV files make the original digital sources much clearer: for the most part they're just using the files from the CD singles box set.
